Mission and objectives

UNDP’s Global Programme on Nature for Development brings together three different initiatives under one program – the Equator Initiative, the National Biodiversity Initiative, and the Global Forest Initiative – in order to identify, foster, showcase and celebrate nature-based solutions that help achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at local, national and international levels. The work of the Global Programme on Nature for Development contributes to UNDP’s Strategic Plan 2014-2017 by charting sustainable development pathways through the conservation, restoration and sustainable management of biodiversity and ecosystems; and by promoting inclusive and effective democratic governance in the area of natural resources.

Context

UNDP - Nature for Development team is looking for online volunteers to proofread the translation of stakeholder and gender guidance. This will be used to support countries to undertake an inclusive, whole-of-society approach when updating their biodiversity policies to be in line with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Task description

Online volunteers will provide support to the project team with proofreading the translation of stakeholder engagement and gender guidance. Tasks will include liaising with the core team via email and proofreading a document of approximately 6,500 words in either French and Spanish. They will also ensure that the translated terms are consistent across the document and in line with a provided terms list. The online volunteers will have the opportunity to build connections with the Nature for Development team at UNDP, as well as learn about the ways in which target alignment can support achieving the objectives of the Global Biodiversity Framework.
