Organizational Setting

The Director General's Office (DGO) provides leadership and coordination for all IAEA activities at the executive level for meeting Member States' needs, and achieving a one-house approach and a results-based management.
The Office for Public Information and Communication provides objective, accurate and timely information about the IAEA and nuclear developments that fosters public understanding of the IAEA's global roles. It also provides advice to the Director General on relations with the media and organizes press briefings. The Office coordinates the communication activities for the rest of the house and assists in the media aspects of major IAEA events and conferences.
The Media, Multimedia and Public Outreach Section has corporate responsibility for relations with the media and the public, as well as for producing audio and video materials to promote the IAEA's activities.

Main Purpose

The main purpose of the internship is to provide the holder with an opportunity to gain practical working experience in an international organization in the area of multimedia, while providing valuable support to the existing team.

Functions / Key Results Expected

  • Multimedia asset management\: organize video projects by topic in archive / make sure that naming of folders and subfolders is correct and follows the predefined standards / create basic metadata for video projects
  • Excel and Trello\: organize excel sheet and Trello board and add finished videos details, to help team keep track of ongoing and completed projects
  • Adobe Premiere and After Effects\: subtitle videos / create and export B-Roll from existing videos [this can be taught to the right candidate]
  • YouTube / Wistia\: upload videos, add descriptions according to predefined standards, add end screens and suitable tags, organize playlists / find suitable B-Roll for media when requested
  • Shooting\: help set up camera, lights, audio at times
  • YouTube\: research and write a document outlining suggestions to improve YouTube outreach

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree - University degree or equivalent in Journalism/Film/Multimedia or related field.
  • Experience working with multimedia asset management - databases and photo/video archiving systems
  • Basic knowledge of editing software an asset
  • Demonstrated interest in multimedia
  • Detailed oriented, technical mindset
  • Journalistic/film/TV experience
  • Experience with corporate use of video and social media is an asset

Applicant Eligibility

  • Candidates must be a minimum of 20 years of age and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree.
  • Candidates may apply up to one year after the completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
  • Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship programme.
  • Good written and spoken English essential; fluency in any other IAEA official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Russian) an asset.
  • Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
