Overview of position |
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (Disaster Risk Reduction/DRR) and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Engineer (DRR); and, in collaboration with relevant Units in Afghanistan Country Office, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following duties and responsibilities. |

This role works under the overall supervision of the Program Manager, the successful candidate will support HAP in DRM infrastructure projects specified. |
Key competencies |
Required Qualifications and Experience Education
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Civil Engineering, Water (resource) Management at a recognized University with B.Sc. degree or higher with at least two years of relevant professional experience. Or High School Diploma / Certificate in above fields with four years of relevant experience.
Experience
1.Experience in implementing and monitoring of different type of structures particularly stone masonry protection wall, gabion masonry protection walls, retaining walls, gabion works, check dams, water intakes, culverts, floodway, and others (buildings and ect.) 2.Experience in monitoring construction of water management Structures is preferable. 3.Experience in organizing on site activities such as layout of infrastructures particularly water management structures including protection walls, supervising construction works, labours management and supervision, preparing labours timesheets, guiding and receiving construction materials and construction tools etc.
SKILLS
• Proficiency in Engineering codes including IBC, ASCE, and ASTM. • Familiarity with Survey Engineering tools such as Total station, level machine, and GPS. • Knowledge in MS Office, AutoCAD and other construction related software. • Experience with Planning and scheduling software’s such as MS project. • The candidate must be willing to reside and work in designated areas and work overtime if necessary. • Familiarity with progress report writing on daily and weekly basis. • Good Communication skills on community basis is desired.
