Overview & Responsibilities

The IDLO Department of Programmes is the central management and coordinating function for programme delivery and capacity development. It is responsible for the implementation of IDLO’s global programme portfolio for field and non-field locations in line with organizational strategy. It coordinates the necessary monitoring, coordination, compliance, quality control, and progress reporting of programmes.

Within the IDLO Department of Programmes, the Programme Coordination Unit (PCU) works across the programme lifecycle by supporting quality programme design; ensuring timely programme reporting in line with donor and institutional standards, including through the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI); providing guidance for working with implementing partners; and managing and providing programme-related institutional support and knowledge. 

Reporting to the Manager, PCU, the Programme Coordination Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Unit and will be assigned, but not necessarily limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Support transparent and updated programme-related data and knowledge management, including the development of Project Information Review Forms and International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) Publishing Dataset Forms in support of the Organization’s publication to the IATI Registry.
  • Support the development of an e-library of IDLO’s institutional, geographic, and thematic capacity statements and performance references.
  • Monitor and maintain updated hyperlinks contained in PCU documentation and on the Unit’s Intranet site, including in the Compliance Sheets and Guidelines and Toolkit for Working with Implementing Partners.
  • Support the Unit in ensuring programme design and reporting quality assurance.
  • Support the development, formatting and review of the Unit’s materials.
  • Perform any other similar duties and/or provide any broader support to the Unit, as may be requested by the supervisor.

Job Requirements

Education and Professional Experience  

  • Master’s Degree/ Graduate degree in a field relevant to IDLO’s work (law, sociology, political sciences and related areas) is required.
  • Work experience in the NGO sector or international development is beneficial, but not mandatory.

Languages 

  • Outstanding written and verbal skills in English.  
  • A good command of oral and written French and/or Spanish would be an asset.

Specific knowledge, skills and competencies

  • Technical Competencies:
  • Advanced computer skills, and in particular excellent ability to use Microsoft Office package.
  • Sound capacity of analysis and synthesis.
  • Practical experience with clear, concise writing.
  • Strong ability to draft and revise documents and handle business correspondence.
  • Solid organizational skills.

  • Behavioural Competencies:
  • Good team player, positive attitude, flexible mind, comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment.

Terms & Conditions

IDLO provides all full-time interns with a monthly stipend of € 600. Internships are offered for 3 months and are renewable up to a maximum of 6 months. This internship is for a full-time placement (5 days a week).  IDLO does not provide cost coverage for travel arrangements, nor for any other related living and accommodation expenses. This internship is to be conducted in-person; part-time teleworking will be considered.
