Duties and Responsibilities
This position is located in the Human Resources Management Section of the Division of Administration at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer or any other staff designated for the purpose. The individual contractor will support the Office of the Chief of Human Resources in delivering the HR functions in the following areas: 1) Assists the Chief of Human Resources in developing and finalizing HR work flows, standard operating procedures, and other process documents. 2) Assists in organizing key HR events involving multiple stakeholders and assists in coordinating work of the HR function across different units, through meetings, recording of minutes etc. as assigned. 3) Assists in the development of content pertaining to the HR functions activities and initiatives for showcasing on the ECA intranet. 4) Assists in implementation and monitoring of the activities pertaining to staff engagement action plan. 5) Assists in developing content and process for offering a single-window access to staff members for administrative services. 6) Provides office support and administrative functions to the Office of the Chief HRO as required. 7) Monitors processes and scheduling related to the Section's outputs, products, tasks, etc., where applicable. 8) Researches, compiles and organizes information and reference materials from various sources for reports, work plans, studies, briefings, meetings/conferences, etc. 9) Generates a variety of standard statistical and other reports, work orders, etc., using various databases. 10) Proofreads documents and edits texts for accuracy, grammar, punctuation and style, and for adherence to established standards for format. 11) Provides secretarial, administrative and logistics support to meetings, boards, committees, conferences, etc. 12) Assists in websites by scanning, converting and posting a variety of documents on to the website. 13) Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
A high school diploma is required. Additional studies related to administration, social sciences or management are desirable. Relevant work experience of at least four years in the area of administration is required. Experience in an International Organization is required. Experience in the area of human resources, process improvement is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional UN official language is an advantage
