ABOUT WFP

The United Nations World Food Programme is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.  The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes.  Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

The overall objective of WFP in Mozambique is to support the government in achieving the Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG2 – End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture). Based on national development priorities, WFP Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2022-2026, Under the Strategic Outcome 1 (SO1) WFP has committed to ensure that people are better able to meet their food and essential needs, through support to crisis-affected populations to have safe and equitable access to adequate and nutritious food. More specifically under the Act 1 of the new CSP, WFP aims to save lives and protect the food security and nutrition status of vulnerable populations affected by shocks and strengthen essential health and nutrition service delivery, while leveraging opportunities to initiate resilience building and self-reliance activities.
