Mission and objectives

UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia (ROCA) supports national counterparts in the Central Asian States in specific niche areas such as, countering narcotics, drug control strategies, intelligence analysis, multilateral operations, precursors control, border liaison and management, customs controls, smuggling of migrants, human trafficking, terrorism prevention and cybercrime.

Context

Progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is dangerously off-track and that progress towards goal 16, through which countries aspire to establish more peaceful, just and inclusive societies, is worryingly slow. In some cases, it is even moving in the wrong direction. If collective action, political commitment and courageous choices are combined, achieving the targets towards peace, justice and inclusion is still possible. However, greater investment in high-quality, timely and disaggregated data on goal 16 is essential if evidence-informed choices are to be made and if the focus is to remain on those most at risk of being left behind. UNODC is looking for one Online Volunteer, fluent or native in English, to support mapping available data on SDG 5, 5, 11, 15 and 16 in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Selected online volunteer will have the chance to collaborate with the UNODC Information Centre team. Online volunteers will also receive feedback on their collaboration and quality of work, certificate of appreciation upon successful completion of the assignment and will be given credit of support where applicable.
