Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations. 

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently employing over 650 staff to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a IT Assistant to join the team in Kyiv.

 

About the job

Under the technical supervision of the IT Specialist, the IT assistant will provide IT support to all DRC employees. As a key member of the IT department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our systems and network, allowing our staff to focus on their core work of improving lives and making a positive impact.

 

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Provide first-line IT support to staff through a ticketing system and in-person assistance, resolving basic hardware and software issues.
  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, peripherals, and network equipment.
  • Manage user accounts and access controls, ensuring data security and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Perform system maintenance tasks, including software updates, virus scans, and data backups.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot any connectivity issues.
  • Following IT procedures and troubleshooting technical problems identified by the IT manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment, licenses, and user requests.
  • Research and recommend cost-effective IT solutions to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Stay up to date with the latest IT trends and technologies relevant to this position.

 

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have first experience (at least 1 year) in a similar position or with similar tasks. We are looking for a motivated person who is keen to learn fast and communicate with different stakeholders. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • Diploma in IT / Network administration (or proven experience as an IT assistant or a similar role)
  • Intermediary or Advanced English proficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse staff members.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to automate routine tasks and suggest IT solutions for improved workflow.
  • Experience with project management and implementing new technologies.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with ticketing systems.
  • Experience with cloud-based applications and remote support tools is a plus.

We offer

  • Contract length: 12 months (3 months’ probation period as fixed-term contract).
  • Designation of Duty Station: Kiyv.
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Expatriates.
