IT Project Manager Apprentice

Contract: Full time - Fixed Term apprentice contract 4 ½ years, (Degree study/work apprenticeship) This will incorporate 20% off the job study time to fit in with the study requirements as applicable.

Salary: £22,122 - £23,228 with excellent benefits

Location: London, UK

Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. About the Team:
The WaterAid global IT team is customer-facing with a remit for front-line service operations, cyber security, technology change and project delivery across our global organisation, in addition to the development and support of IT infrastructure and application services running across WaterAid globally. The team also has direct responsibility for 250+ staff working in the UK and provides services and support for WaterAid staff across 20+ countries.

About the Role:
The IT Project Manager Apprentice at WaterAid is to actively contribute to the successful delivery of IT projects by supporting the IT Operations Engineers and Program Management team. Through collaborative efforts, the apprentice will assist in project planning, requirements gathering, resource allocation, and risk management while maintaining accurate project documentation. By working closely with various stakeholders and embracing agile methodology principles, the apprentice will help overcome challenges, ensure efficient project implementation, and ultimately contribute to the WaterAid's mission of making a positive impact on communities worldwide.

The IT Project Manager Apprentice will:

  • Collaborate with the IT Operations Engineers to support the successful delivery of IT projects. Assist in project planning, requirements gathering, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including project plans, progress reports, and project-related documentation as required.
  • Act as a liaison between different stakeholders involved in IT projects, facilitating effective communication and coordination to ensure project goals are met.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving project-related issues and challenges, employing critical thinking and analytical skills to find innovative solutions.
  • Embrace and learn from the organisation's agile methodology principles, focusing on continuous improvement and maximising efficiency in project delivery.
  • Gain exposure to various IT systems and technologies used within the organisation, understanding their roles in project implementation.
  • Participate actively in training sessions and workshops, developing project management skills and IT knowledge to support personal and professional growth.
  • Ensure that projects adhere to established quality standards and best practices, contributing to the overall success of the IT team's efforts.
  • Display flexibility in taking on additional tasks and responsibilities as required, assisting in various IT initiatives to meet WaterAid's objectives.

About You:

  • A high level of enthusiasm for contributing to WaterAid's global mission and values.
  • Pursuing a relevant certification or degree in IT Project Management, or a related field.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise accordingly.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well within a diverse team.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Basic understanding of IT concepts, systems, and technologies.
  • Familiarity with agile methodology or project management principles (desirable but not mandatory).
