Background:

The OSCE Project Co-ordinator is mandated to assist Uzbekistan (PCUz) in its efforts to ensure security and stability, support the country’s socio-economic and civil society development, help protect the country’s environment and to assist the government in the implementation of its commitments taken within the OSCE framework. The Project Co-ordinator’s activities are carried out on the basis of jointly developed programmes and projects.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

The selected international intern will have the opportunity to familiarize himself/herself with the work of an international organization and its key activities (project management, communication, public administration etc.). Under the overall supervision of the Head of the Economic and Environmental Dimension, the intern will be requested to carry out the following duties:

  •  Supporting the PCUz with weekly and monthly reporting, e.g. gather and preformat inputs from the three dimensions and the Office of the Head of Mission; submit the draft to the responsible manager for approval;
  • Assisting with communication, e.g. draft messages for the Mission’s social media channels (Telegram, Facebook, X), as well as for the website, submit the drafts for approval to the management, aassisting in the analysis of social media outreach, and subsequently liaise with colleagues in charge of translation and publication;
  • Contributing to the preparation of knowledge and communication products, materials for outreach, related to area of work. Assist with events, e.g. draft presentations and other input for PCUz national and international programme officers; provide organizational assistance, etc.
  •  Assisting with extra-budgetary funded (ExB) projects, ie. perform desk research, explore project ideas and, as necessary, support with editing texts;
  • Assisting with administering project funds by drafting or proof-reading project-related documents such as amendments, etc.

Necessary Qualifications:

•    Be nationals of OSCE participating States; applicants who are nationals of OSCE Partner for Co-operation countries may be considered;

•    Be not older than 30 years on the date of the deadline for application, and have completed two years of full-time post-secondary education in an accredited institution or have completed a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate no longer than two years before the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice;

•    Professional fluency in English with excellent communication skills. Knowledge of Uzbek or Russian would be an asset;

•    Strong analytical, research and drafting skills;

•    Good organizational skills with ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently;

•    Social media and editorial skills are an advantage;

•    Computer literacy in standard software applications; excellent IT knowledge, familiarity with Microsoft Office and social media applications;

•    Displays gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitive behaviour and attitude;

•    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity;

•    Have strong service attitude and the capacity to perform with accuracy and in a flexible manner a diversity of tasks in a complex institutional environment.

 

Remuneration Package:

The OSCE shall not remunerate interns.  All successful applicants are expected to make their own arrangements for travel, lodging, living expenses and health insurance during the internship period.
In lieu of remuneration, the PCUz may contribute with an equivalent to 10% of the applicable BLA rate (approximately EUR 11.8 per diem) to interns who are non-residents at the duty station. 
The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at their own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange their medical coverage, they shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station they apply to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations. 
The internship will be on full-time basis for 4-6 months. The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
