Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations. DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 650 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified and motivated Mechanic in Sloviansk.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the day-to-day technical functioning of the guesthouse/office in the city of Sloviansk, namely: the heating system, sewage system, the technical condition of other equipment in the office that does not require the involvement of individual specialists (doors, locks, etc.).
    • Coordination and control of the provision of drinking water to the guesthouse/office by timely ordering/receiving/collecting drinking water for the needs of the teams
    • Receiving, storing and issuing goods related to the functioning of the guesthouse/office
    • Supervision of internal parking within the scope of responsibility (sprinkling sand, keeping it clean).
    • Providing necessary support to program staff during their stay at the guesthouse/office
    • Understanding and ensuring compliance with the DRC Code of Conduct
    • Assessment and monitoring of the guesthouse/office's need for equipment and materials to ensure the reliable operation of the guesthouse/office in the city of Sloviansk
    • Control of performed cleaning service works as needed.
    • Formation of the composition of TMC (stationery, office equipment and special forms). Inventory management.
    • Interaction with the owner of the office and rental premises regarding the functioning of the office.
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Manager of the Kharkiv base or the Manager of administrative and financial activities.

Required experience and competencies

  • Secondary or higher education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in household administration or equivalent.
  • Proven skills and a competence in house maintenance (boiler, water supply system, garage).
  • Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
  • Working skills in MS Word and MS Outlook will be an advantage.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian or Russian.

We offer

Contract length: Open-ended contract upon successful completion of the three-month probation period

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for National Staff.
