Storekeeper Team Leader

Purpose

 

The Storekeeper Team Leader ensures that general warehouse activities are carried out correctly and by standard operating procedures (SOPs). They organise and plan warehouse activities and actively contribute to the annual warehouse inventory.

In the absence of the Warehouse Manager, they represent the SDT/LOG/SAT/WH unit.

Core duties and responsibilities

 

Functional responsibilities

 

  • Plan the preparation of orders in collaboration with the supply chain and other areas of the warehouse. 
  • Prepare orders: ensure accurate picks, quality packaging, order processing in line with scheduled delivery dates, document compliance.
  • Ensure that all physical movements are correctly recorded in the JDE system.
  • Proactively produce analyses or reports as required.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with maintenance, that warehouses and storage conditions are in good condition and that hygiene and pest control rules are applied. 
  • Actively participate in the organisation of inventories, record and review discrepancies, and take corrective and preventive action.
  • Lead the teams and warehouses for which they are responsible for real and lasting improvements by engaging them in a lean approach and continuous improvement projects. (5S, A3, etc.)
  • Analyze and manage performance indicators defined for warehousing operations. (KPI SQD+C). Propose and initiate corrective and preventive actions for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure effective communication within warehouse teams and between warehouses and other players in the supply chain. 
  • Participate in warehousing projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage implementation within the given deadlines. 
  • Handle Supplier/Carrier or Customer Complaints by conducting the necessary inventory investigations, proposing corrective and preventive actions aimed at improving customer satisfaction.

 

Operational responsibilities 

 

As Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one or other of the warehousing macro-processes:

  • Write SOPs related to their activity under the supervision of the Head of LSC Satigny. 
  • Actively contribute to the development of SOPs drafted by other EMSs. 
  • Propose, draft and carry out change requests within the scope of its EMS expertise. 
  • Disseminate SOPs in Satigny and/or globally.  


As a Key User of one or other of the IT tools used in warehousing:

  • Actively participate in defining User Requirement Specifications (URS). Logistics.
  • Carry out User Acceptance Tests (UAT) and, if identified as missing, propose test scenarios. 
  • Act as the main point of contact for Logistics players, facilitating training, collecting non-conformities and disseminating best practices.
  • On request, represent the warehousing function in projects or any continuous improvement initiative within 

 

Managerial responsibilities 

 

  • Management of the picking and preparation team. 
  • Quantify staffing requirements and actively participate in the recruitment process. 
  • Plan and ensure effective induction of all new staff in their unit.
  • Keep data of temporary employees up to date.
  • Establish, communicate and evaluate the annual objectives of employees under their supervision, and ensure that they are fully understood. 
  • Plan and coordinate annual leave for employees under their supervision, ensuring continuity of operations. 
  • Coordinate and support employees under their supervision in their personal development. 

 

Additional tasks

 

  • Follow up correspondence and all professional messages exchanged with relevant contacts and departments.
  • Collect and disseminate all valuable information to improve the ICRC's understanding of the environment, the humanitarian situation and the interventions carried out.
  • Appropriately represent the ICRC during activities, at meetings and outside the institution, avoiding any behaviour that might damage the institution's image.
  • Take responsibility for their professional training and development.

Education and skills required

 

  • Accredited technical qualification in supply-chain management or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency, including with enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Fluent in French, English an asset.

Professional experience required

 

  • Typically 12-15 years' professional experience.
  • Minimum five years' experience in supply-chain management.
  • Team-management experience an asset.
