Intern Finance Administration ToGETHER*

in Bonn

You can start your internship at Welthungerhilfe (WHH) as soon as possible. It should be a compulsory internship with a full-time employment over a period of 6 months. Your place of work will be in our Head Office in Bonn Bad Godesberg, Germany.

The ToGETHER program (Towards Greater Effectiveness and Timeliness in Humanitarian Emergency Response) promotes the localization of humanitarian action. In this program 38 local/national organizations from eight countries, namely Bangladesh, Colombia, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Somalia and four international organizations from Germany work in close collaboration. As an intern for ToGETHER you will support the Program Management Unit (PMU) consisting of a Program Coordinator, a MEAL Coordinator, a Finance and Process Manager and a Social Media and Communications Expert.

Your responsibilities

  • Support with verification of financial reports, vouchers, invoices for payment and other varied numerical data
  • Follow up with external project partners, WHH country teams and other WHH units on financial and administrative matters concerning fulfilment of deadlines, task completion, document quality, and compliance with established standards
  • Support in the revision of ToGETHER contractual documentation, assembling contract packages for Program partners, mailing and a close follow up
  • Other document creation: set up of memos/notes for the file, meeting records, filling and checking forms concerning ToGETHER finances, administration and procurement; use of digital signature tools
  • Document archiving: extensive and continuous filing of a large number of financial and administrative documents in the internal filing systems
  • Organization of interpretation services for meetings and support with other ToGETHER logistics e. g. check of procurement documentation, travel reservation for consultants
  • Support in the preparation of the final financial report of the Program, incl. filling prerequisite forms and managing and matching large blocks of data
  • Support of programmatic workstreams in the PMU

Your profile

  • Matriculated at university during the whole time of the internship. Ideally, a Bachelor study or a degree in administration, project management, finance or a related field
  • Initial experience abroad and in the field of humanitarian aid is an advantage
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Microsoft Teams; knowledge of Microsoft Sharepoint is an asset
  • Quick with numbers and tables, comfortable with complex spreadsheets
  • Meticulous, diligent and very organized
  • Appreciate clean, clear, correct and complete documents and structured archive
  • Strong verbal communication skills, interested in liaising with international teams and partners
  • Able to easily familiarize oneself with new topics, work on several tasks at the same time and enjoy working independently
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Specifically – ability to write clearly and instructively in English. German, French and Spanish language skills are an asset
