Background:

Within the mandate of the OSCE Mission to Skopje to promote the maintenance of peace, stability, and security, the extra-budgetary (ExB) project "Assisting the National Authorities of the Republic of North Macedonia to Decrease the Risk of Weapon Proliferation and Misuse of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW)" was developed to respond to the assistance request by the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, supporting the country’s efforts to implement international commitments in the field of preventing and combating SALW proliferation, therefore, contributing to the overall security and stability of the country. 

The ExB project would like to engage one national intern looking to enhance their knowledge about the implementation of project activities, gain practical experience in procurement/administrative and programmatic project activities in an international environment, and get acquainted with procurement and project implementation challenges. 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the Senior Procurement Assistant and overall supervision of the Project Coordinator, the national intern shall:

  1. Learn about the work of the OSCE Mission to Skopje with a focus on SALW-related project activities in the field;
  2. Provide assistance in the preparation and issuance of procurement and project documents as well as implementation of procurement activities;
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand procurement and project needs;
  4. Support the preparation of tender dossiers; assist in the collection of documents/information about requests for quotations, public advertisements (OSCE website and/or local media), purchase orders, contract renewals and extensions, and contract documentation;
  5. Learn about and take part in conducting market research to identify potential suppliers;
  6. Support the maintenance of organized and up-to-date procurement records;
  7. Support the organization of events, meetings, workshops, and other events;
  8. Perform other tasks as required.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of North Macedonia;
  • Applicants should be not older than 30 years on the date of the deadline for application, and have completed at least two years of full-time post-secondary education, preferably in a field related to business administration, procurement, project management, or similar from an accredited institution, or have completed a first or advanced degree no longer than two years before the application deadline;
  • Applicants should present interest in the areas of project management, public procurement, purchasing, supply and logistics;
  • Strong analytical, research, and drafting skills;
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently;
  • Ability to work in a confidential environment and maintain discretion;
  • Basic understanding of project management, procurement processes, administration, and /or accounting will be considered an advantage;
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and local languages;
  • Computer literate with practical experience with Microsoft applications;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.

Remuneration Package:

Please note that the OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration during the period of internship, nor reimburse travel expenses. In lieu of remuneration, the Mission may contribute with an equivalent to 10% of the applicable BLA rate (approximately EUR 11 per diem) to interns who are non-residents at the duty station. 

The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at their own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange their medical coverage, they shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station they apply to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations. 

The internship will be on full-time basis for 6 months. The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
