CIMMYT is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-oriented professional for the position of Internal communications and Engagement Specialist to support the internal communication strategies, communication channels, internal branding and culture promotion, etc.

The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.

As the Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), your role will encompass developing and implementing effective strategies to enhance internal communication and engagement within the organization. You will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive work culture, ensuring that employees are well-informed, engaged, and aligned with CIMMYT's mission and goals. Additionally, you will communicate internal events that promote collaboration, knowledge sharing, and a sense of community among staff members.

Responsibilities:

→ Internal Communications Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications strategy that aligns with CIMMYT's objectives and supports effective information flow across the organization.

→ Content Creation and Management: Create engaging and informative content for internal communications channels, including newsletters, intranet, emails, and other platforms. Collaborate with different teams to gather information, stories, and updates for dissemination among staff.

→ Internal Communications Channels: Manage and maintain internal communications channels, ensuring they are up-to-date, user-friendly, and accessible. This includes overseeing the intranet, email distribution lists, digital signage, and other communication tools.

→ Change Management Communication: Support change management initiatives by developing effective communication plans and materials to ensure staff members are well-informed about organizational changes and transitions.

→ Leadership Communications: Collaborate with senior management to develop key messages and communication plans for leadership initiatives, announcements, and updates. Assist in preparing presentations and speeches for internal events.

→ Measurement and Evaluation: Establish metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of internal communication initiatives and events. Analyze data and feedback to make recommendations for improvement and optimize communication strategies and event experiences.

→ Internal Branding and Culture: Promote and reinforce CIMMYT's values, mission, and organizational culture through internal communication efforts and events. Support initiatives that foster a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work environment.


→ Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in event management, corporate communications, or public and staff relations. Experience in science communication is a plus but not required.

→ Proven experience in internal communications, event management, or related roles.

→ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and channels.

→ Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

→ Familiarity with various internal communication tools and channels, including intranets, email platforms, and digital signage.

→ Experience in planning and executing programs, events, or activities.

→ Proficiency in event management software and tools.

→ Knowledge of change management principles and practices.

→ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

→ Knowledge of agricultural research or development is desirable but not mandatory.

→ Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
