We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated and service-oriented professional for the position of Junior Legal Counsel on the day-to-day Legal operations, tracking these matters daily in the projects dashboards and preparing the progress update to the SAS Program and the timely completion of ticketing systems requests for the review and drafting of various agreements and legal matters

The position is based at CIMMYT’s campus in Texcoco, State of Mexico, located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico.

Specific duties:

  • Support of the Contract Life Cycle Management by drafting, reviewing, negotiating, amending, releasing, quality control, management, contracts, and agreements entered by CIMMYT with national and international (private and public) entities.
  • Control and manage the archive of contracts, documents, and agreements related to CIMMYT’s research and institutional/corporate activities.
  • Ensure proper follow-up of entrusted matters, tracking these matters daily in the provided dashboards and preparing the progress update to the relevant areas and the timely completion of ticketing systems requests for the review and drafting of various agreements and legal matters.
  • Research and analyze laws, regulations, and procedures to provide legal support concerning institutional in the context of all legislation arising from different legal frameworks.
  • Represent the Legal Department and CIMMYT before different authorities and forums.
  • Draft legal correspondence, memos, meeting minutes, and other documents as necessary.
  • Participate in the optimization of processes for legal services processes and guidelines.
  • Support internal processes operated by the Legal Department.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis, preparing presentations and consolidated reports for the Legal Department.
  • Perform other related tasks within the job level as may be requested by the immediate supervisor.
  • The selected candidate must have a Degree in Law.
  • 3 years of experience in-house or experience in similar roles or activities.
  • Advanced level of English. English will be tested, and the candidate must score a minimum of C1 on CEFR.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Adobe software. Experience with Contract Automation software is desirable.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and possess strong attention to detail.
  • The candidate must exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to his responsibilities and deadlines.
  • The selected candidate must exhibit the following competencies: Teamwork, Customer Orientation, Achievement Orientation.
